Seminar with Kay Sandacz sensei – June 19-21, 2015

Denver Aikikai welcomes Kay Sandacz sensei to the dojo June 19-21, 2015. 

Kay Sandacz began practicing aikido in 1987 and has trained at Inaka Dojo in Beecher, IL since it opened in 1992. During that time she frequently attended seminars with Saotome sensei and Ikeda Sensei, among others. She finds aikido a continually intriguing exploration of connections and relationships. Kay currently holds the rank of yondan through Aikido Schools of Ueshiba.

Dan Messisco sensei returns to Denver Aikikai May 8-10, 2015

Denver Aikikai welcomes back Dan Messisco sensei for another incredible workshop in May 2015.

Dan Messisco (6th Dan ASU) has been training in martial arts since 1964. His martial arts background includes extensive training in both Korea and Japan. He earned his Chodan in Tang Soo Do in Korea and studied under Hwang Kwan Jang Nim, son of Grand Master Hwang Kee. In Japan, his training includes time at Hombu dojo in Tokyo, Japan. Messisco Sensei studied under Mitsugi Saotome Shihan in Sarasota, Florida where he earned his Shodan (ASU). He also studied under Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan in Boulder, Colorado where he received his Nidan and Sandan rank (ASU). He received his Aikikai Yondan in Japan, Godan while studying in Pennsylvania, and Rokudan while in Michigan.

Saturday May 9 – 10:30 am – 12:30 and 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Sunday May 10 – 10:00 am – 12:00 noon

Cost:
$120 in advance or $150 at the door (if space is available)

Denver Aikikai is pleased to announce the lineup for the 15th anniversary of the Aikido Summit. Honored instructors from six schools of aikido come together on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Denver Buddhist Temple.

Winter Friendship Seminar with David Goldberg sensei – Jan. 31, 2014

Join us January 31-February 1, 2014 for an incredible weekend of aikido with David Goldberg of Inochi No Nagare Dojo in Philadelphia and Edgar Johansson of Denver Aikikai.

David Goldberg Sensei has studied Aikido for 30 years and holds the rank of Godan (5th degree black belt). He was recently honored by Mitsugi Saotome Sensei with the Ueshiba Juku designation, recognizing that he has shown exceptional loyalty and leadership within the art, to transmitting the teachings of O Sensei and is a true inheritor of the teachings of O Sensei.

Edgar Johansson Sensei has been practicing aikido since the summer of 1990. His commitment to studying aikido has afforded him the opportunity to meet and train with some of the world’s finest aikidoka and instructors all across the United States as well as in Japan. Edgar is chief instructor & dojo cho at Denver Aikikai and currently holds the rank of Yondan (4th degree black belt).

Winter beginner’s program starts Jan. 4, 2014!

Make aikido your New Year’s resolution!

Our next 8-week Beginner’s Class starts Saturday, January 4, 2014. Classes are Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7 and Saturday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30. You’ll learn at your own pace from experienced, patient instructors in a safe, fun environment. The entire 8-week course is only $120.
