This fall, Denver Aikikai is bringing together instructors from Colorado with our friends from Japan for a weekend of exceptional Aikido. We hope you can join us!
Instructors:
Munetsugu Sakabe Shihan, 7th dan, is the chief instructor at Aikido Aishinkan in Kumamoto, Japan. He has been practicing Aikido for over 55 years, training with Sunadomari Shihan, Saotome Shihan,S himizu Shihan & Fukakusa Shihan, among others. Sakabe Sensei has participated in aikido exchanges with people from 14 countries, including the United States, Europe, Australia, Turkey, and Taiwan.
Eugene Lee Shihan, 6th dan, is a senior instructor at Aikido Shobukan Dojo in Washington, D.C. He has been a student of Mitsugi Saotome Sensei for over 35 years, serving as the current President of Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (ASU) and past President of Shobukan Dojo. His approach to aikido focuses on movement, martial integrity, and enjoying the training experience.
Susumu Takahashi Sensei, 6th dan, is the chief instructor at Kuwamori Dojo, a historic dojo that became the first Aikikai branch dojo in Tokyo. Interesting note: Saotome Sensei first began training at Kuwamori Dojo!
Edgar Johansson Sensei, 6th dan, is the founder and chief instructor at Denver Aikikai. He is a proud aikido “mutt” with teachers and influences in several styles of Aikido throughout his 35 years of training. He has brought many students to dan ranks over the years and leads a thriving dojo that focuses on martial exploration and principled technique. Edgar Sensei is also the founder of the Aikido Summit event in Colorado, which has been happening since 2000.

Friday, September 18: 6-8:30pm
Saturday, September 19: 10:30am-1pm & 3-5:30pm

Sunday, September 20: 10:30am-1pm & 3-5:30pm
Pricing:
Full weekend prior to Sept 1: $160
Full weekend after Sept 1: $185
Saturday & Sunday (4 sessions) prior to Sept 1:$140
Saturday & Sunday (4 sessions) after Sept 1: $160
Individual 2+ hour sessions: $45 any time

If you are from another dojo and have not visited Denver Aikikai since before April 2026, please click button below to register and pay for the event and set up an account with us.
